Business Services

Business Services is a perfect entry level course for students wanting to develop skills in business administration. It provides opportunities to learn about running a small office or business and to put these skills into practice in a range of simulated work activities.

Learners entering the workforce must be well equipped with transferable skills that will enable them to transition across job roles and industries. Students who undertake this course will acquire a range of technical, practical, personal and organisational skills valued both within and beyond the workplace.

Occupations in the business service industry include administration assistant, clerical worker, data entry operator, information desk clerk, office junior receptionist.

Construction

Certificate II in Construction Pathways gives students a broad overview of the Construction industry, coupling a range of practical tasks with a theory component to gain competency. The course provides students with the opportunity to obtain a dual qualification as it contributes towards the HSC and a Certificate II in Construction Pathways.

Skills gained in this industry transfer to occupations such as: building, bricklaying, carpentry, concreting, consulting, contracting, landscaping, structural engineering, shop fitting and roofing.

Construction assessment units may include projects including the following: tool carry-all, wall construction, outdoor picnic table/seating, garden landscaping, wall and floor tiling and other projects focussed on improving school amenities and the environment.

Hospitality

Are you interested in a career in hotel management, as a chef or maybe you want to own your own cafe?

OR

Would you like to gain some skills to give you an edge applying for that part time job in a cafe or restaurant?

Hospitality allows you to gain a nationally recognised qualification as you work towards Certificate II in Hospitality and it can also count towards your ATAR.

You will have the opportunity to gain skills in food preparation as well as food and beverage service in our very own Cafe 11. You will also have the opportunity to experience the industry through work placement. 

Manufacturing& Engineering - Introduction

Manufacturing and Engineering Introduction is a VET course that allows students to develop skills relevant to the metals and engineering industry. Students who successfully complete the requirements of this course will be eligible to receive a Certificate I in Engineering.

Students will undertake a range of practical experiences that occupy the majority of course time. The practical experiences will be used to develop skills and knowledge related to product manufacturing. The range of projects will include sheet metal projects, metal machining projects and metal fabrication projects.

The course also has group work component where students will develop important teamwork and communication skills. An example of a group work project is the manufacture of a trailer.

Primary Industries -Agriculture

Primary Industries - Agriculture provides opportunities for students to experience and understand how to manage the land and its resources.

Students consider the growth and production of plants and animals and use appropriate production skills to plan and use resources sustainably.

Students develop practical skills in maintaining animal and plant production and research the latest technological innovations within the field of agriculture.

There are practical work components including growing plants, raising poultry and learning the fundamentals of bee keeping. Practical work will help students develop skills in organising, problem solving, planning, managing, measuring, maintaining records and report writing

Fitness

This qualification reflects the role of group and gym fitness instructors. These fitness instructors may plan and deliver group exercise sessions and develop gym-based programs for individuals where the level of personalised instruction and ongoing client monitoring is limited. They work in predictable environments under general supervision. When instructing groups or interacting with clients, they use discretion and judgment to solve routine issues within the parameters of clearly defined organisational policies and procedures.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a fitness instructor in settings such as fitness facilities, gyms, and leisure and community centres.

You should choose this subject if you are a physically motivated, social student who loves to work with groups of people, and has a keen interest in working within the fitness industry.

Retail

Why not kick start your chances of getting a part time/ casual job or launch your pathway to a future retail career while still at school?

Your retail course will give you a great introduction to the ever-changing world of retail. You’ll learn how to communicate product information, work effectively in a team environment, use retail technology, and build customer loyalty. Retail workers are dedicated and patient, with exceptional communication and people skills – which are a must have skills in any job and industry! Every town has jobs in retail!

What really sets this subject apart is the hands-on practical experience it provides. You will learn as part of a simulated business, giving you the opportunity to put your newfound knowledge into practice and build confidence in your abilities.
